So I have been working in the Internet space for over 14 years now, and cannot imagine not working in this space. I truly believe very passionately about the Internet and have seen over the years how it has changed the way we do business, and socialize. I have recently started a web based online dating community called Loovya (check it out at Loovya.com) and I have to say it has been a great learning experience. I have learned so many things along the way, and would not change the experience for anything.
I have learned:
- How to research the market place and do a competitive analysis of all of the players in the space.
- Dissect their product offerings and decide my core feature set.
- Build a straw man design of what I want to include in my product.
- Create a screen flows and wireframes to articulate to the development team the product design and direction.
- All of the creative aspects of the design.
- Looking at Viral marketing aspects.
- Working with content providers to provide great compeling content for the user community.
- Learning how to reach out and market the site.
- Interacting with the customers to determine their likes and want to use from the site, as well as look at future enhancements.
This has been an intersting project and I have hit some real bumps along the way, and would not have changed this experience for anything. I have several other projects that I am also very excited on working as well. I will share more with you later, but I hope to share some of the tools I have learned along the way with you here.
Have a great holiday weekend.
Frank
